Sliabh Liag is Ireland’s ultimate sea cliff experience and a signature point on the Wild Atlantic Way coastal touring route. Located in the Gaeltacht region of County Donegal, Sliabh Liag are the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe where the cliff face of Bunglas rises over 600m above the ocean below.
We have a host of events for you to choose from. taking place Friday evening, May 24th and Saturday morning:
Fri 7pm - 5km Uphill Challenge, 500m+ elevation gain
Sat 8am - 50km Run/Hike, 2,000m+ elevation gain
Sat 9am - 25km Run/Hike, 1,000m+ elevation gain
Sat 10am - 13km Run/Hike, 530m+ elevation gain

Entry includes medal, buff and post event refreshments.
An amazing run on Ireland’s most Iconic landscape, starting at sea level and running up the Pilgrims path to nearly 600m on the towering cliffs.
The Sliabh Liag Adventure Race is proudly supported by the Sliabh Liag Visitor Centre and The Rusty Mackerel. We are proud to be supported by Donegal Tourism, our partner across all the 2023 events.
The Sliabh Liag 25km and 50km races are part of the Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) Index Race system. UTMB Index races contribute towards every Finishers UTMB Index in the corresponding category (20K, 50K, 100K or 100M) and gives privileged access to the UTMB World Series Events.
General Race Information
All information will be confirmed race week, but general details are as follows.
The event takes place at Teelin, Co. Donegal, and headquarters are the Sliabh Liag visitors centre 200m from the Rusty Mackerel pub.
All events will start & finish at the Sliabh Liag Visitors centre. (5k uphill finishing top of pilgrim path).
Start / finish / parking/ registration are all in the one area adjacent to the centre.
Refreshments will be served after each event (tbc).
Trail Running shoes with good cushioning / or hiking boots, walking shoes if you are hiking - walking event.
Terrain is tarred road, gravel tracks, soft ground- potentially muddy if wet, some scrambling along larger rocks & stone steps.
As the event takes place on Sea cliffs the weather is very changeable. Hopefully May will have nice summer weather but you never know !
A good Waterproof Jacket is recommended, and a small backpack to carry goods. As this is an Adventure run / hike, you are required to carry your own water / drink for the event.
A small backpack, or race vest is required to carry drink / waterproof jacket / snacks, gels and other items you may want to carry. Water / Coke / Sweets will be available at end of each loop for anyone that needs to refill on 25k / 50k.
